The national park may be closed for the time being, but there's still plenty of Smoky Mountain beauty and culture to be absorbed at Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge. In fact, now through November 2, you can enjoy the park's annual National Southern Gospel & Harvest Celebration.
In addition to all the usual rides, shows and attractions, Dollywood guests are treated to four weeks' worth of live gospel music shows. Currently scheduled acts include Karen Peck and New River, The Ball Brothers, Legacy Five, The Booth Brothers, The Perrys, Brian Free and Assurance, The Isaacs and the Mark Trammel Quartet.
The festival also features beautiful displays of handmade arts and crafts by guest artisans from all over the country, who are set up at special display booths throughout the park. And of course, Dollywood's regular craftsmen are on hand too, with their craft exhibitions and daily demonstrations.
Round out your experience with lots of tasty fall foods at Market Square and fall decorations like pumpkins, hay bales and scarecrows. Of course, the natural autumnal beauty of the Smokies serves as the perfect backdrop for this annual festival.
Before booking your trip to the Smokies, be sure to check out our selection of cabins in Pigeon Forge, TN, which are ideally located for a visit to Dollywood.
About Leif Palmer
Leif Palmer loves residing in the Smoky Mountains. He is an avid outdoorsman: rowing for exercise on the lake, trail hiking, and free climbing rocks in the mountains. He indulges his arty side by periodically beating up pieces of marble by sculpting. He is always frustrated by his inability to sink long putts, and hates his curly hair (but his wife loves it). Leif has been known to muster enough courage to change a diaper, and hopes his son will become a chip off the old block.
