Bloomin' Barbeque & Bluegrass

When warm weather arrives in the Smokies, it's a sure sign that two of the best things about spring and summer can't be far behind-barbecue cooking and bluegrass music. Fortunately for anyone hanging out in Sevierville this weekend, you can soak up plenty of both at the annual Bloomin' Barbeque & Bluegrass festival.

Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage

If you're staying in one of our cabins in Gatlinburg this week, we have a very special event to recommend that you consider, especially since spring has finally sprung in the Smokies (this week's brief cold snap notwithstanding). The 64th Annual Wildflower Pilgrimage takes place in Gatlinburg April 15 through 19 and helps celebrate the transition of winter into spring as the Smokies begin to blossom forth in new color.

Smoky Mountain Theater Preview

As spring draws closer, you can almost hear the musicians, singers and dancers warming up and tuning up as all the local music theater venues gear up for another big season in the Great Smoky Mountains. Actually, a handful of locations have continued to operate on a limited schedule through the winter months, but by the end of March, all area productions should be up and running for the remainder of the year.

Hit The Slopes!

We've certainly been getting more than our usual share of nasty winter weather these past few weeks. In fact, we've gotten more snowfall in the Great Smoky Mountains than we have in any of the past 20 years. And while most folks may be tired of all the weather-related mess and hassle, there's one place in the Smokies that says, “Bring it on!”

Turn Cold Days Into Fun Days In The Cabin

Like much of the country, we've been experiencing historically cold temperatures here in the Great Smoky Mountains. And even though we haven't received a lot of snow in the lowlands, the frigid temps alone and some lingering ice are wreaking havoc in parts of the county. As a result, getting out and seeing all the sights and traveling in the national park may not have the same appeal this week as it normally does.

What To Do On Your Winter Vacay

Understandably, summer and fall are the peak times for travel here in the Great Smoky Mountains. The weather is warmer (or the leaves are changing colors), and the kids are usually out of school. It only makes sense that these are the times when most families plan their vacations and getaways in the mountains of East Tennessee.

Holiday Shopping In The Smokies

Although we all know good and well what day Christmas is every year, we always seem to fall into the same trap of letting time slip by. For many of us, before we know it, the days have lapsed into weeks, and we're staring Christmas in the face with little progress made in knocking out our shopping lists.

A Dollywood Autumn

The national park may be closed for the time being, but there's still plenty of Smoky Mountain beauty and culture to be absorbed at Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge. In fact, now through November 2, you can enjoy the park's annual National Southern Gospel & Harvest Celebration.

A Smoky Mountain Homecoming

Last week, we talked a little about Old Mill Heritage Day, a special event that celebrated the history and culture of the Great Smoky Mountains. If you missed out on that, you'll get another chance this weekend to experience a similar immersion into the days of yesteryear. The 21st Annual Robert A. Tino Smoky Mountain Homecoming, October 5 and 6, takes visitors back to simpler times, when the farm was the center of family life.

Old Mill Heritage Day

At Timbercreek, our cabins in Wears Valley are very convenient to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville. Being able to drive to any of those cities in just a few minutes means easy access to the area's many special events. One such event taking place this weekend-the 10th Annual Old Mill Heritage Day-would be a great daytime outing for any of our guests.

Car Shows Roll Into Smokies In September

September is not only the time when the kids go back to school and football season starts. It's also a great time to be a car lover in the Great Smoky Mountains. That's because three different custom-auto events are taking place in our towns throughout the month. Here's a quick overview of events you might be interested in attending if you're staying at one of our cabins in Sevierville, TN or Pigeon Forge, TN.
